About Master Daniel Sng

Master Daniel Sng is the Chief Instructor of Sun Hapkido Academy Singapore (SHAS). He is a highly qualified international instructor and is currently a 5th Degree Black Belt in the art of Hapkido (Cert no. 050014) with Hapkidowon – World Hapkido Headquarters (WHH). He is a recognised member of Hapkidowon and also the Head of Public Relations for South East Asia. Sun Hapkido Academy Singapore (SHAS) is a recognised charter school of Hapkidowon – World Hapkido Headquarters in Singapore.

He is a committed and dedicated instructor whose love for martial arts has motivated him to become a full-time martial arts instructor in Singapore. Master Sng possesses more than 26 years of experience in teaching Hapkido and understands the importance of being a role model for his students. He has formally organised 2 Hapkido Grandmaster Seminars for his students in Singapore under The World Hapkido Federation as well as The Hapkido World Seminar 2014 Asia under Hapkidowon – World Hapkido Headquarters (WHH).

Master Sng is also an internationally recognised master instructor and examiner with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). He is the Chief Instructor and Founder of Island Taekwon-Do Centre (ITC) and is the President of International Taekwon-Do Federation Singapore (ITFS). He currently holds a 7th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do and has organised various seminars for his students, as well as coached and brought them to numerous tournaments and championships world wide.

About Sun Hapkido Academy Singapore

Philosophies of Hapkido are integrated as part of the teachings of the academy, and you can find friendly, professional and experienced instructors who have numerous years of training to aid you during your training and be readily available in class to guide and enrich you in your skills, techniques and knowledge of Hapkido.

This academy promotes respect, discipline, commitment and care in the teachings of Hapkido, doing our best for the students, looking out you needs and interest as well as to encourage care for fellow members of the club. We strive to build a warm and wholesome community that is motivating positive environment to improve your physical and mental discipline as well as to build friendship among members of the academy.

The training facility consists of a clean and comprehensive training area that is fully equipped and floored with mats that are appropriate for the training of Hapkido. It is fully air conditioned for the comfort of the students and has a wide variety of equipment that is available for training. There are locker and shower facilities available for the students to appropriately store their personal belongings and separate male and female restrooms.

About Hapkido

Hapkido is traditional Korean martial art that employs joint locks, pressure points, kicking techniques, striking techniques, throwing and locking techniques for the purpose of self-defence, it also consist of a range of traditional weapon techniques that include stick, cane, sword etc.

Hapkido is a martial art rooted in tradition, and philosophy and is a fully comprehensive fighting style utilising footwork, circulating motions, and transition of body weight against the opponent with an option of a close or distal combat. This martial art is a balanced art consisting of “hard” and “soft” movements following circular motions encompassing principles of the flowing movement such as that of water, circular and non-resistant and techniques such as strong kicks and punches which makes the martial art a balance of beauty in skill and techniques executed. Hapkido also emphasise on its philosophies and strong mental discipline in students that take up this martial art so as not to abuse it.

There are a large variety of techniques that are taught in the martial art to not only execute locks, throws, pressure points and striking techniques but also techniques to counter such moves. Techniques are found that allow for escape from joint locks, tight grips on the arm and grabs on neck, and head, and to subdue the opponent. Break fall is also taught to students to aid them in the protection of their body in falls and throws as well as to escape joint locks.

The addition of comprehensive kicks and punches make Hapkido distinct from other martial arts, as it also delivers emphasis on speed, power and precision in the human body in its various kicking and striking techniques that promotes motor co-ordination, flexibility and muscle tone.
